Need an audio mixer ?
I play music, Bass, Guitar , Keys, and drums and have been in search of a simple mixer that wont require a PhD to use to record my original songs . Some of the mixers that I downloaded wouldn't work at all or just sometimes . I found that Musicmatch will let me record a track then play it back while I play another part with it and record both parts together . Music match will store each recording as you add to it . It saves all your work in the widely used MP-3 format. It doesn't have edit cut paste so if you make a mistake you have to start over on that track ...But that is good training and helps you prepare for playing out live .
Heres how it works
I use balanced line out of my amps to a 3 Chan mixer from radio shack and line out from that to the line in on the PC . ( you can Balanced line out direct from the amp to the line in on the PC If you want , changing the cord to your different instruments as you go) The 3 Chan mixer I picked up at a pawn shop for 20 $ It allows me to not have to swap out the cords, Your volume control has settings for fade left and right that you can use for separation if you want . Make some sound test to get your levels right
RECORDING
open musicmatch hit record and the recorder will pop up , check you options and select your recording source . and time to start recording select it to 5 seconds ( to give you time to settle in with your instrument. Can be set much longer if needed) Edit your song name as prompted.( song 1 bass part) On the recorder you have a recording button hit it and watch the timer click down then play . When you hit stop your song will be added to my library . Open the library and click the song it will start to play in music match .Hit stop . Now with that song in musicmatch your recorder will still be up. Edit the name of your second part (Song 1 bass / guitar) Hit record let it click down to one or 2 seconds then hit play on musicmatch it will play and you can add to it . Hit stop and that mix will be added to your library. click it to open it in musicmatch for review . Everything is easy to delete if you need to , to save disk space just follow Musicmatch instructions help. You have to hit record first then play it wont work the other way . With a little bit of playing with it you can do some good recordings this way Good luck !let me know if this helps anyone .
