Why Use Two Clicks on the Mouse's LH Button?
As an WinMe user I was happy to find that I did not need to double-click my left-hand Mouse button to open 'stuff'.

Why not try a single click? Goto 'Folder Options' (Optiones Carpeta) and on the 'General Tab' under 'Click items as follows' put the dot (make a bullet) against 'Single-click to open an item (point to select)'.

Done.

Thanks Ben, that is a whole new ballgame. It will take a while to stop double clicking to open and single click to select. But it's a good option to know. Interested to know what other O/S may have this option?

Hello Joe,

Ummm let me think. Win2000. Win98SE. I hope I am correct in those. They are on two of my neighbour's comps. Yes, I feel fairly sure.

Thanks for responding, Joe.

Oh Windows Server 2003 Enterprise supports it, but just having it on for a few seconds confuses me.

On Win2k you can go to Folder Options and on the General Tab find Single-Click to open an item [point to select] and place a checkmark next to it.

I've run that way for a couple of years now so I have to remind myself that most other PC's are set up to open things with double click.

I use the middle button to double click, that way I get the best of both.

I had mine set up that way for a few. My accidental clicks kept opening stuff. I guess I am just a clutz, but it drove me to distraction. I never really gave it a chance. I might have eventually gotten used to it.
