Question: tapes to cd's
Doesn't anyone know of a QUICK way to transfer audio tapes to CDs (or DVDs)?

I'm thinking something along the lines of a "dubbing deck", where the tape is played in fast time and the copy recorded in fast time. But a "dubbing deck" goes tape to tape. I want tape to CD.

I have a boatload of audio cassette tapes with live recordings. I don't want to lose them. Would be nice to have them on CD instead. But I'd hate to have to record it in "real time" as I have hundreds of hours to back up.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately you are stuck playing the tapes in real time. There is no software available that can easily take a high speed dub and slow it down to normal (I looked). You might be able to use a program like Goldwave to take the high speed input and slow it down, but the chances of getting the exact speed are left to your judgement. What you hear is what you get.

There are "other means" at your disposal to find the tracks you need. Certainly would be alot faster than dubbing your old tapes over, and better quality too.
