Solved: Kill the Links folder in IE
Does anyone else hate that you can't get rid of the Links folder in IE? It drives me batty, so I had to share.

1. In Explorer go to \Windows\Favorites
2. Right-click on the Links Folder
3. From the menu select Properties
4. Place a Check-mark in the attributes box for Hidden

Sweet . . .

Oh, right. I actually meant the Links folder in the Favorites menu.

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Favorites\Links

You need to apply this reg tweak to delete the Links folder permanently:

------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar]
"LinksFolderName"=""

------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of hating it, put it to use.

I keep my top favorites there, so I can access them quickly.
You can also place shortcuts there to other apps such as MS Word, Notepad, etc.
You can place other folders under it, so you can categorize the links in different ways.

Hi Ben:
Ain't that a great one? Courtesy of Firefox's extension Smiley Xtra 3.01. In the computer section. Also has an enlarged FF icon, with the fox nibbling on the E, the E being the ocean. Nifty, but large. Happy New Year.
