Accessing News Server
Hello,

Someone please tell me if this is possible. I have a AT&T dial up account. From that account I can access their news server Netnews. I recently upgraded to Comcast high speed cable. I now have 2 accounts. What I am trying to figure out is it possible to configure my computer to access the news server Netnews using my high speed cable instead of my slow dial up? Comcast uses a different news server.

Thanks for any help,

Dave

Any other Newsreader options?
Hello

Thank you for replying to my question. They advice you gave me worked. The only problem is Outlook Express. It is a very poor Newsreader. If possible, I would like to use Fort Agent or SBNews as my newsreader. Do you, or anybody know how to configure those newsreaders. I can only use those newsreaders now to access Netnews (the news server used by my dial up account) when I am connected to my dial up account.

Remember what I am trying to do is access my dial up news server using my high speed cable instead of dial up.

Thanks,

Dave

I'm not familiar with either of those newsreaders, but I can tell you that in order to access the Worldnet newsgroups from another provider, you must be able to set the program to use SSL and specify port 563.

You will have to look through the settings. If either of these optons is not available, then you will not be able to access the newsgroup server.
