FireFox 1.0 and 1.0.1 timeout reload tweak
Sometimes when you are browsing, any site you're trying to visit will timeout for a minute or so. For example if you are visiting google, slashdot, and hotmail, all three sites will timeout. Sites comes back after hitting reload a bunch of times, but it can get really annoying. These timeout problems can be fixed, if you are using FireFox 1.0 or 1.0.1 version.

I just updated to Firefox 1.0.1 and yesterday and so far the timeout issue hasn't been a problem. I did have the timeout issue quite a lot with Firefox 1.0 and thought it was an issue with my DSL/ISP.

betterpc, did you try the tweak yet? I have a question and this I've wondered now for many months as there seems to be lots of tweaks out there to improve Firefox. Now that Firefox have just recently come out with v1.0.1. why haven't the developers included these tweaks into the latest v1.0.1? I know you can't really answer this question but I wonder if Firefox will eventually come out with a version that doesn't need to be tweaked out by the users.

After doing a clean install of v1.0.1, I had to go back into about:config and redo all the tweaks I had done for v1.0.

I tried that tweak.

I think that regular user don't care about tweaks and is happy with default features. Also some tweaks works for dsl users, some works for dial-up users, some tweaks are for fast computers, some for slow. It all depends. Still default FireFox is good enough for everyone.

I'm pretty much tech freak - i want to try all tweaks and mods i can find.

Do you know of a tweak for Firefox that will load the Home Page faster. Sometimes my Home Page will load fast, say like 3 seconds and most of the time the Home Page could take 20 seconds or more to load.

This is also a problem I have with IE 6.0 with the Home Page loading fast sometimes and slow most of the time.

I did this tweak recently and so far I've noticed a great improvement with no more timeouts while visiting sites.
