Easy Speed issues
many problems issues with speed on 90% of computers can be easily solved by just changing the amount of startup items. you go into start->run->msconfig->startup then you look at everything checked and when you see programs you dont necessarily want to have load on startup/dont care about you uncheck them then you hit apply and restart.

I solved my speed issues by buying a P4-3.2ghz, a gig of dual DDR, and a pair of WD Raptors in a RAID-0 array. Much better performance than the old rig!

I'm lazy - instead of msconfig, I installed WinPatrol (free) and let them help me manage startup programs - check it out at:

http://www.winpatrol.com/

Just a suggestion - for a free program, it's great - if you want it to look up what specifically startup items are in detail - there's a pay version (Plus). This has been a real timesaver to me - but then again - guess I'm lazy. lol.

I can look around this room and see at least eight external drive enclosures, several DVD-RW drives and a bunch of hard disks, totaling more than a terabyte. Honest, I have heard about external drives.
