Talking Windows XP Home Edition
I don't know if anyone is interested but I noticed that Best Buy, at least in the Chicagoland area, had Windows XP Home Edition for $39.99 after a hefty $50 rebate and an in store savings of $10. That doesn't sound too bad.

Hi Simon29

Did you notice if WindowsXP had SP2 with it?

You can slipstream SP2 easily with AutoStreamer, I've used it several times here. No need to worry about what's on the original CD.

Just curious if WindowsXP is now being sold with SP2.

I have seen that the new computers are coming with SP2 already installed.

LOL, I don't live near Chicago, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night!

It is difficult to tell from the tiny picture in the ad but it does mention SP2.

I've never really liked rebates, but I can see where a person strapped for cash would take the offer. Actually, I can see where anyone would take a $50 rebate.

Now, if only there were more choice...btw, the guy in the comic is a linux fan

I called up Best Buy today and it is the upgrade version of Windows XP Home Edition that they are advertising. You would never be able to tell that from the ad in the paper.

I have just had my computer upgraded with a new tower and it has SP2 already installed they called it the second edition, I have all the proper papers for it including the XP CD, so I would think, if you are buying a new upgrade perhaps the SP2 is already installed.
