Curious about file size difference
I ran two different anti virus programs and happen to notice, the first one took longer to run and said it looked at 73,173 files. The second one ran faster, but said it checked 84,875 files. Why wouldn't they be closer to the same number of files? Just curious, it's not a big deal since niether one found anything.

not a good idea to run 2 antiviruses. they will eventually conflict with each other.

as for why checking different number of files. it depends on who made the anti-virus and how they set up their program.

It's the files they're checking. Apparently, each developer has a different "favorite" list of file types.

Also certain AV scanners create a DAT file containing info about what they scanned and when. They also store the hash value from exec files. The next time they run, they check to see if the file has changed or the hash value has changed. If it is the same they skip detail scanning of that file.
