Ad Aware tip
Do you have AdAware SE? Try this Windows XP Home tip:
Boot to SAFE mode, then run AdAware. You'll be surprised at how much more junk you can find.
Always Quarantine your findings, just incase things start to act strangley. You can always reload them from AdAware.

Why is it a Windows XP Home for AdAware SE?
Did not know AdAware SE find things only by OS unless the spyware is something that only only on XP.

I'm not completely clear on what you are asking.

I said that because I use WinXP Home and I don't know how it would work in any other OS.

I tried this on a Win 2000 platform but didn't find any more in Safe Mode - but then there would have to be something there in the first place to be found, so doesn't mean it wouldn't work.

I have used that technique on my mother in law's computer ( XP Home ) to get rid of a reoccurring piece of spyware, that wouldn't delete with Adaware under 'normal' mode, but did delete under safe mode. It's a good tip.........

I have tried it with my 98se box, but not found anything.......and that made me happy

Stoner-Had the same problem with a buddy's pc. The only way I can get AdAware to complete the deletion and not hang is in safe mode. He is running W98SE. I had looked everwhere for a solution and this was one suggested for the hanging on delete.

Appreciate the suggestion - I tried this on both my home pc's - but found nothing. However, I did find on one computer that I couldn't get into safe mode unless I did it without a password enabled - or under Administrator. At least I learned something even if I didn't find any spyware. I know now what to do when I NEED safe mode. Good tip - thanks.
