Doing A Reformat........
DOING A REFORMAT.................

for a while i was having to reformat my computer at least once every six months----if you have ever done that before---you wind up pulling hair out because when you do that--you lose everything that you had saved from A to Z ----well it used to take hours to get my puter back to where it was before i had to reformat---you no---updating everything--re installing my favorite sites--you name it and i had to do it all --- then one day talking to another person in a forum -- it was mentioned--if you have been having the unfortunate luck of reformating---it might be wise to take all your things you had saved and sites you go to regularly and so forth---take them all and email them back to you---then when you have the unfortunate luck of having to reformat---once you get back online--first thing you do is go to your email---open that letter you sent to your self and copy and paste all those things that were important back to the files where you had them in the first place. i no this might sound stupid but it cut my reformatting time from all day---down to less than an hour--to get right back where is was before i said ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! another little secret--if you have children---lol --- teach them how to reformat also --- for me it seemed i had to fix what they had done most times lol if nothing else!!!!! maybe it will help some poor person who, as like me, just doesn't have all the computer skills as others. GOOD SURFING !!!!!!!!!!!!!

One possible thing you can try next time is to partition your hard drive.

Keep a relatively small one just for the OS and what it needs to run and your programs.
Use the rest of the drive for data, source code, drivers etc.

Then when you get everything the way you want, using one of any number of imaging programs, create an image of the C: drive to the second partition.

Then what I like to do is backup that second partition to another hard drive.

Now if you need to reinstall, you just copy the image back again. Even with something like XP, this only takes a few minutes.
