I agree that anybody posting someone else's tips (especially that many, and that detailed vs just a few general tips) ought to post the source for two reasons. Firstly to give credit to the person who authored the tips. Secondly and equally important so that the forum administrator here can go view it and ensure it is not copyrighted material. If the original source is not known, then at minimum where it was copied from in hopes it can be traced back to the source from that point.

Having said that I do not know 0110, therefore cannot say if he/she authored them or not. I do know that the exact same content exists elsewhere on the Internet. 0110 if you did author them, very good job. If you did not, please be clear about it up front when doing so. Or in this case, be clear about it after the fact. As I explained above if the material is copyrighted, the forum admin needs to know that and ensure that the author's permission was granted before reproducing the material.

That posting on MS's web site that the Forum Admin noted in a link is certainly the same as what is in posting #10 in this discussion. So the options we have are 1 - 0110 works (or worked) for MS and wrote that, 2 - 0110 was hired as an outside consultant by MS and wrote that, or 3 - 0110 copied & pasted that information from MS (sounds so much nicer than saying he probably stole copyrighted material don't you think - I can't imagine MS not having a copyright on everything they post on their site) when he prepared his "tips" back in 2003.

Everybody relies on resources from others when authoring their own works. A person learns from other people's works. But in doing so you ensure that permission is obtained when quoting someone else's work, and give appropriate credit in your writings for such cases, and in your bibliography you note the reference material you relied upon to author your material. For all I know you authored everything else except that part. But you think anyone is going to buy that now? Failing to give credit where credit is due takes credit away from your own work in the long run.
