Hi again. I need someones help in explaining how to do something. I just read in PC magazine the March 21.2000 issue something about increasing your resource level. I have 64 MB of ram bit I believe my system does not run as fast as it should? The article says that even after you close an application memory resources may still not be freed up. I checked my computer and properties under performance and it says my system is configured for optimal performance yet the resources that are free was 39%??????
In the article I read it says that if you have a lot of UTILITIES or OTHER items in your STSRT UP FOLDER can drain your resources. The article says to reboot your system and if that does not help then you should REMOVE some apps from the start up folder. Can someone tell me how to do this step by step. And if there is ANYTHING else I can do to PLEASE let me know that also. MUCH THANKS to you all for all the help you have given me in the past.

Start.... run... msconfig... Start up... uncheck the ones you dont want loading up. I leave in "scan reg" "Load power profile 2 of them" "System tray" and my Virus stuff.

Unchecking them will ad a new line to your program menu called disabled start up items if you need to start them later..

For a walkthrough go here and click System config utility. it will show you how it looks.. http://www.chasms4.com/win98/98index.html

Try Rambooster. It is a program that runs in the background and you can set the free RAM threshold for optimization. Then when free memory gets below the threshold, it automatically frees up as much as it can. This is usally alot. Works well with win98.

What OS are you running? If you right click on your task bar and go to properties a dialog box will come up,from the Startup Menu Programs tab select "Remove" then click the "+ sign" next to startup and highlight what you want removed. And click remove!hope this helps!
