Hello, friends who may develop things in Access. Just wanted you to know that if you write lots and lots of code in your apps, they get really big, not because you wrote lots and lots of code, but because M$ sucks somewhat. Especially if you're doing DAO/ADO stuff. The "database bloat" problem is as yet unsolved by M$, though they are "aware" of the problem (search M$ knowledge base on above phrase if you wanna see what I'm talking about.)

But an old tip which still works in Access 2K is the decompile trick, which is, copy your MSAccess.exe shortcut, add the name of Your Favorite Code-Heavy database to the command line, hit the space bar once, and type '/decompile'. Then go, using the shift key. You will see nothing special (this is a change from previous versions.)

Then recompile and compact the database.

Watch your front end shrink and shrink and shrink.

This has not been a test of the emergency broadcast system.
