Re-start in DOS. Type in the following command: Regscan /Fix. This will clean up your registry; depending on the speed of your computer, this process will take a while. When you are done, type in Regscan /OPT. This will optimize your regsitry. I have successfully used these two commands and have experienced very satisfactory results. Good luck. FreeSteve

The command is actually scanreg not regscan. If you still have problems, make sure you are in the windows\command directory.

Thanks frenat, no wonder it didn't look familiar. I thought it was just another command I didn't know about.

Dont know about Win ME but starting with Win98 from Run
Scanreg to check for errors
or from the DOS prompt
Scanreg /restore to go back to a good version of the registry of up to 5 days of prior good bootups.
