Is there any software that will allow you to clone all the software on a disk without saving any of the hardware configurations? I thought I read somewhere that there was a program like this, however, I cannot remember where I saw it. I am building a new box and I would like not to have to reinstall every software title back on my machine. If anyone knows anything I would appreciate a shout. Thanks.

Most of hte disk copying software (like GHOST) copies a complete image which includes all the hardware drivers and settings. Of course you can do your first boot up in safe mode, enter control panel and device manager and delete everything in it. Then reboot and let windows find all your new hardware and and set it up then. This will keep all your programs intact but you will still have a lot of old garbage from old programs that you have added and removed and old registry entries that are not used anymore. Some times its better to start over with a clean disk and just load what you want. Your computer should run faster like this. BOL

Yea, I seen it at the comdex show last year. It will copy all your apps and regestry entrys to a new machine or different OS. (win 95 to win 98)

But your probably better off installing the apps from scratch.
