Shortcuts
Hello there,

This is my first post so First of all I would like to say Hi to everyone.

I thought I would give a little first before I ask too much of you guys and gals, And I thought this would be the ideal place. I have found a great xp tweak site so I thought I would share it.

tweakxp.com. (sorry I can't post links yet)

One of the most useful tweaks I found was how to make shortcuts on my desktop for Shutdown, restart etc...

Its easy, all you have to do is.

Create a shortcut (Right-click on desktop, select New > Shortcut).

For location, type the following:

shutdown -r -t 0 (to Restart your pc)
shutdown -s -t 0 (to shutdown your pc)
shutdown -l -t 0 (to log off)

Click Next, enter a name for the shortcut.
Thats all there is to it. After that I gave them a nice icon and put them in the quick launch bar. Maybe I'm just lazy but I find it useful.

Also check out the Memory Performance tweak in the system performance section. It works a treat on my computer.

enjoy.

Edit: I should read the other links first as someone beat me to it. Nevermind enjoy the site anyway.

I'm lazy also.

You can do the shutdown in Win 98 by creating a shortcut as per Fizban's instructions.

In "Command Line" type: C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindows

Name it and find an icon of your liking.
