Yes there are a few around. Sadly, you need to know about these things before you purchase - which most of us didn't. I will be doing some research before I buy the next DVD RW for the computer,I can assure you.

There are engineering codes for many DVDs. All mine, both PC ones and TV DVD player, are now region free.
