Can I post this ????
I have found a great free program that you can use to play any region DVD's is it OK for me to post the link to the download site.

This Free program is a small, free tool that integrates into Windows XP/2000 and overrides DVD-Video copy-protection and DVD Region limitations.

Oh I hope so, I have lots of DVDs from Japan that I can't watch without running the risk of losing my DVD player...

I don't think that we should as Mike takes a pretty hard stance against this type of stuff.

You're welcome. I've also posted a link to this in the mod section, just in case Mike wants to over ride my decision

I hate region coding! I have some DVDs from England that I couldn't even watch and the Queen is our head of state? I managed to reset the code in the longeroom DVD player because it's a cheap nasty brand, but the one in the computer is a Sony. So if you only want to watch these discs that is my suggestion - if you want to copy them... you're naughty.

What about DVD players built as a stand alone DVD player and never was assigned a region? I know of a few of these.
