It's funny . . . I did run across the aforementioned site just yesterday, but the fact is, I don't actually hate AOL, not really. They've treated me quite decently. I've only been "cyber-wise" for less than 2 years, and they've been my only IP to date, still, when my free-trial was over, I called and mentioned that I'd like to keep them as my IP but couldn't justify paying $24 a month, they were quick to lower their rate to $17.95 (as long as I stayed a year)
I know there are scads of IP's offered at about half that, but still, at least I felt I got something out of the giants lair.
Of course, they do cram a lot of junk into their clients PC's, etc. and many of their so-called techs are not real sharp . . . but I just found one that actually knew what he was doing and started e-mailing him on the sly, so one might say that I've my own private consultant. It works for me. Perhaps I am the exception?
It does irk me that AOL makes it quite difficult to uninstall "pieces" of their carnival of glitz, which is exactly why I posted the link to this software I finally came across in the first place.
FS's reply has prompted me to go ahead and add these links to the "AOL Stinks" posts . . . good idea!
