You go to a web site and get a "the page can not be displayed' or something similar to that effect. This trick is not going to work all the time and will not be a solution for all the reasons why you went to the web site, but it worked and came in handy many of times for me.

You go to a search engine that finds the site plus a cashed page of the site, example google,etc. You click the cashed page of the site. You get the cashed copy of the website. If you went to the site to click on a link on that site,many times the link will WORK.

A recent example. a radio station's webpage was down this past week. They announced over the air thier website was down with people having problems getting though. On thier website are links to a message forum,news stories,contest lines,request song lines. What i did was google the radio station's webpage, i clicked links on the cashed copy of the website and the links worked! Like a kid in a candy store, i used the links to send in song requests that was used(they were getting "o" requests).

The above is just one example but i have been using that trick many times.

You can also get there quicker, by putting the sites name in the Domain field on the Google advanced search panel.

I use this all the time to directly search the Microsoft knowledge base, instead of using the MS engine.
(in Sharky's case, you would still use the cached results of the search)

For MS the domain is support.microsoft.com or for the entire MS site, microsoft.com
