Solved: Post a thumbnail?
I have posted many threads but I amnot sure how to post a screen shot without cutting and pasting it to a word document. That way I have the white page around it. Any instructions?

Press print screen then go into paint, select edit and then paste. Once you have done that you can "save as" and place the pic where you like. Remember to save it as a JPG though or your pic will be too big. Just upload the jpg for your thumbnail.

Hi lschul

Download Irfanview www.irfanview.com it's freeware, you can save your screenshot as a .jpg file and post it here without using a word document.

Just another vote for Irfanview.
It's very popular here at TSG .. Come join the club.

But - I suggest using a gif format for Screen Shots ...
They're cleaner images and smaller file sizes.

Welcome back.
I replace M$ Image n Fax with Irfanview.
It's been so long since I've used Image n Fax .. I can't remember what all it can't do.

If you need some initial Irfanview setup suggestions ... see here .. Setup

If all you want to achieve is posting a screenshot then there is no need to use a third party application as Microsoft paint can do it, it's really simple and quick to do.
If you want to do more than just a screenshot then Irfanview does seem to be popular at TSG but I've never used it myself so I couldn't say.
I guess it's just down to each persons personal choice at the end of the day, I prefer to keep 3rd party apps to a minimum to keep my PC running smooth and therefore stick to Windows if I can.
