Thumbs up PC Checkups, Diagnostics, & Benchmarking
I came across these sites and thought I would share it.

(1) http://www.pcpitstop.com/default.asp
>>"At PC Pitstop we can help you get your PC in top form -- running fast, stable and secure. PC Pitstop runs diagnostics on your PC to identify things that might help improve performance. The process is fully automated, private and safe. After the diagnostics run, we'll give you tips for improving all kinds of things. Best of all, the service is free!

Our diagnostic tests are safe, passive evaluations of your system. The test will not change any settings on your PC. As for privacy, we've adopted a stringent policy that protects any personal information you give us. "<<

Running their tests I have found some things that needing tweaking on my PC and I have noticed a ~slight~ improvement. (Every bit helps huh!?!)

(2) http://www.3bsoftware.com/
Well, most of know about TweakUI, their version is very similar. If you don't know what TweakUI is then check out TweakI. The other software I highly recommend looking at & downloading is SANDRA 2001te. ( http://www.3bsoftware.com/products/prod_sandra.htm ) >>"SANDRA performance enhancing tips, unparalleled benchmarking, and diagnostic tools has made it an industry favorite from the likes of C/NET, Maximum PC, PC Computing, etc. SANDRA is updated frequently to stay on top of fast-paced hardware industry.

* Enhanced system performance with SANDRA™ built-in tune-up, and diagnostic tools.
* Complete diagnostic analysis reporting detailed information about every major sub-system and peripherals on your PC.
* Industry setting benchmarking analysis.
* Comprehensive reporting allow system results to be printed, emailed, faxed or saved as HTML"<<

ENJOY!

Angry The sites you recommended
I went to the site you recomended and I tried to run the software three times and all three times it froze on me. BUT, unlike it says in the instructions there was no error message.

I disabled my screensaver, shut down MSN and had nothing running at all as it asked for. I ran the program and waited, after about 20 min. I left the room as it said it might take awhile. Two hours later i came back and had the same screen, I hit Ctrl/alt/del and it was "not responding" I did this a few more times and always got the same result.

Can you think of anything I might be doing wrong?

Sorry Taz! Sounds like you are talking about PC Pitstop. I remember it saying that it could freeze up some systems. I have not had that problem with my old POS computer. (POS = Piece Of S***) It does take a while depending on your system, but not a few hours, maybe 15 - 30 min max.
Try downloading SANDRA 2001te ( http://www.3bsoftware.com/products/prod_sandra.htm ) and running some of the diagnostic tools.
Good Luck

To bad the other did not work, it looked really good and I was looking forward to running it.

Sisoft Sandra
I have been using Sandra professional version for a while now and can without doubt confirm that it is one of the most useful diagnostic and informative pieces of software that I have ever used.
Note = I have mine on CD now. You can run it straight from the CD without having to install it on the hard drive.

Can You tell me:
A) Does NT TweakUI 1.33 and Norton conflict with each other?
B) Does anything need to be backed up before installing NT TweakUI 1.33?

I was reading where NT TweakUI 1.33 works well on Win 2K.

I have Norton System Works 2000 on my machine running Win 2K and installed Sandra light or demo and they seem to get along together OK. If that does in-fact work with the full version I cannot say, but it looks good so far.
