I wonder why?
If I am not mistaken, the message error he got was from his browser. I get a message like that sometimes to when my browser does not recognize the websites certificate.

Could Google not use a filter to prevent hits being offered on illegal sites when people request information that is plainly illegal ... I'm thinking subjects like pornography involving minors, as well as seearches for 'bomb making.' ?

It's all very well quoting 'freedom of information' ... but there is no valid reason anyone should want ... and be supplied with either.

Likewise, the supposed 'safeguard' of Google logging all searches, matters not a jot - since any criminal will use an internet cafe or other such alternate point of contact, to escape detection.

If Google disabled links to sites as they were detected, it would help eradicate this material.

AVG has also on occasion put up a cautionary popup box warning that 'there is harmful scripting' on page when clicking a link.

Right and I have seen that over the years with netscape too but only when I go to the site listed on the certificate.
This is a first I ever had it happen at google.

Makes you wonder if the certificate was ok how many times something like this goes on at google and other site that you never even go too because a link to those other sites are on the page and if the certificate is good your never see anything.
