Gotrootdude's Geeky Techy Stocking Stuffer Gift Guide!
During this time of year, most of us tech types are so busy fixing other peoples machines, that we don't get time to think about Christmas gifts. So, for that reason, and without further ado, I give you.

Gotrootdude's 2006 Geeky Techy Stocking Stuffer Gift Guide ! or GGTSSGG !

Realizing that most americans are up to their ears in debt, this guide should suit most budgets.
These Gift ideas are meant to be small and thoughtful. Hopefully it will help.

For DAD:
HDTV
GPS (Probably the best gift if your dad doesn't own one.)
Media Center (MCE, MYTHTV, MediaPortal, SageTV, BeyondTV)
[b]Car stereo
Upscaling divx compatable DVD player

For MOM:
Roomba vacuum (You'd be surprised how much it's appreciated)
Kitchen under counter entertainment center, CD player
Shower spa
mp3 player
Digital Camera (Who doesn't love these.)

For Gamers:
Nintendo Wii
Xbox 360
Saitek Eclipse II keyboard
Saitek P3000 wireless gamepad (TIP: Trim the plastic from the positive terminal of the batteries to prevent charging problems)
gaming mouse
Belkin Nostromo n52 SpeedPad

For Tweakers:
NEUROS OSD - Open Source Linux embedded media center
Media Portal
MythTV
Chumby
Gumstix
Asterisk PBX
GP2X

For Modders:
Fan Grills
Cold Cathodes
EL Wire (to often ignored)
Fan filters
Dremel tools and bits
Modders Mesh
Primer (to often forgotten when painting)
Black and Decker mouse sander
Plastic Drill Bits. ( Special bits made for drilling plastics)

For those who like to solder:
cool touch soldering iron
volt meters
SpokePOV
miniPOV
momolight
Subscription to Makezine

For the Kids:
LEGO Mindstorms NXT
Nintendo Wii
Nintendo DS lite
Remote control planes, helicopters
Bicycles or electric motocycles.

For woodworkers:
Any cordless power tool !

General gifts: Tire Pressure indicators (turn red when pressure is low), 100pk DVD or CD media (Taiko Yuden, Ridata, or Fuji only please), USB flash drives, mp3 players.

Other Ideas: Set up a family blog website for sharing photos and events! , Get a family portrait printed on canvas for a family keepsake , distribute USB IP phones to your distant relatives. Money is always nice, better if it's in a CD account or money market. Skip the gift cards, layaway, and extended warranty, they're gimmicks.

Please, no ties or clothing. If you want to insist on buying clothes, then give money and take us shopping to pick them out ourselves.

Lastly, Don't forget the batteries!

"The first job of a true patriot is to question the Government"

Thomas Jefferson

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for any assumption of power. The Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters ... but they mean to be masters. "

The question was "Why?"

Your situation is of no concern to me... other than I do hope your personal health is OK

call me bitter if you like...

Is that just because you have home automation that turns it on whenever you walk in the room?
