Is Your Homepage Getting Changed? Then Lock It!
This is compliments of Reghakr from Tek-Tips. If you'd like to try it I would suggest that you first save a note of these changes in case you ever want to change it back and note how the key mentioned appeared before the changes. Also before making the changes, export the key mentioned into a folder for safe keeping. Then it would be easy to reverse the changes if you ever wanted to by double clicking that saved .reg file. I haven't tried it because I don't know of any sites offhand that'll change your homepage to test it with, but from what I know of Reghakr i'm sure it works.

Is your homepage in Internet Options getting changed when visiting some websites? If so try this:

Correct your home page to the one you prefer, then immediately do the following:

Backup the registry and/or export the following keys. Go to Start>Run, type regedit and click ok. Navigate to:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Right-click on the Internet Explorer key, choose New>Key, name it Control Panel. Right-click on the Control Panel, choose New>DWORD value, name it Homepage. Right-click on Homepage, choose modify and type in the number 1.

This should lock your home page so no other web site can change it.

Then navigate here and verify the homepage is correct:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Look for the Start Page entry.

The tweak disables the Home Page options in Internet Properties.

Like Kento, I don't know of any sites that reset will your Home Page. But if I run into any, I'll post the results.

Here are other IE restrictions you can set:

Internet Explorer Control Panel Restrictions (Part 1)

Internet Explorer Control Panel Restrictions (Part 2)

But wait, there's more:

Internet Explorer 5 Restrictions
