how do i change the pictograms of .exe files?

What do you mean by "pictograms". If you mean icons, there are a few steps you have to take. Outlined here is how to do it on XP.

but this only applies to non .exe files

right click on the icon on your desktop that you wish to change... click properties and select change icon... some have a few to choose from... for more click browse and navigate to the windows folder on the C: drive
