Transferring data
I want to retire my desktop and use my laptop only. What is the best way to transfer data files to the laptop? After that I want to reformat the hard drive on the desktop and re-install XP for my grandsons to use.

create a network between the two and transfer via cat 5 e. You will get super fast transfer rates this way.

You could also simply use a USB FLASH disk, it all depends on how much data we're talking about.
