What is the best way to clean it without damaging it? | | Moderator with 96,644 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: South Eastern PA, USA Experience: Advanced age & experience | | I use a 25% solution of 99% Isopropyl alcohol with 75% water. Use ONLY a soft cloth and lightly dampen it with the cleaning solution. Do NOT use any paper product of any kind, and don't allow the cleaning solution to get behind the bezel of the LCD.
I've cleaned dozens of them this way without any damage. However, heed the cautions about letting the solution get behind the bezel, that can render the display inoperative. And if you search here, you'll find out what happens if you use something like a paper towel, it scratches the surface, and there's no fix for that.
Do not use the 70% Isopropyl alcohol, it contains oils and other ingredients.

I use Clearview Gel by Allsop. It is a gel that comes in a spray bottle. You spray a little on the screen, it doesn't run because it is a gel, then you wipe it off. It works pretty good.
I don't know why they can't just add a layer of glass over the screen, it seems like a simple solution. | | Member with 76 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Nanaimo B.C. Canada Experience: Intermediate |

#12 | I've always used a slightly damp microfiber cloth, one half damp, other dry and it cleans up my LCD screen just as good as cleaners. Water/microfiber=cheap and effective! Then on it goes to wiping down the rest of my equipment since I'm already at the computer. | THIS THREAD HAS EXPIRED.
