We get a lot of inquiries asking how to remove ink or permanent marker from the surface of the screen. This technique has worked for many users. Try a solution of 50-50% water and "70% isopropyl / rubbing alcohol", available in drug stores. If this does not work then use the 70% isopropyl alcohol full strength on a clean cloth this should remove most inks from the screen. Do not use this any more than necessary and rub lightly as it could cause damage if over used.

What is a "gel monitor screen"?

If you meant an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and there are lots of window cleaners that can be used, as long as you don't "drown" the screen. An over quantity of liquid may get into places you did not mean it to.

If your son really used a ball point pen, then I hope he did not press hard enough to damage the portions of the screen that are the actual pixels of the screen. That could be disastrous. If the pixels are damaged, you MIGHT be able to "massage" the screen to revive the damaged cells, but I would not hold too much faith in that.
