I know optimizing isn't the best word for this. But I have been using CCleaner to get rid of temp files, manage the startup programs, and also as a light registry cleaner (mainly after uninstalling programs). I don't like to mess with too much of the registry as I'm not too familiar with it yet.

I guess what I'm asking is, are there any other maintenance tips that I'm not already doing to keep up your computer. I know there isn't too much performance to gain with this type of maintenance without upgrading hardware, just looking to keep down the clutter that builds up with windows. Thanks

u can also compress ur C drive 2 save a bit of space & turn off indexing

Right click on My Computer then on Properties. Click on the Advanced tab then in the Performance area click on the Settings button. Select 'Adjust for best performance' click OK, OK. This will stop most of the eye candy and give your computer quite a boost.

I use Partition Magic. There may be some free ones, try doing a google search for "hard drive partitioning program"

Why don't you use Acronis Disk Director Candy? The price is right.

Use Auslogics Defrag [Here] to defrag your PC much much faster, than the built-in Windows version.

Thanks for the tips. Needed to see if there were some things I might be missing. I think I really need to start learning Linux so I can migrate at least my home computer to it.
