Those who use the .net framework with programs (paint.net, sony vegas movie studio etc.) you too may know the goddamn pain the thing can be if it malfunctions or automatic updates downloads the wrong update for it and it goes to hell.
There is, however, a simple way to make .net work again, which has worked with me after all other methods have failed.

this brings up a description and further links to the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, including downloading it. It basically works on anything that uses a windows installer in the first place, and removes the program entirely off of the system (not including the setup wizard/file).
Using the wizard, remove ALL versions of the .net framework listed in the program, (and any others you may be having trouble uninstalling) then install the most recent version of the framework (3.5 at time of writing).
This should get it up and working again, as well as clearing your system of versions of .net that it doesn't need any more (1.0, 1.1 etc.)
Contact me if this doesn't work for you.
