Got a tip that I can pass on to him to easily do this. The simpler the better!! TIA

I looked and looked but never saw anything there that would help me to help my friend--personal friend and a live one at that!
See you saw Ricks post and you gave him the complete link to Steve's site. Thanks. I remember a Rick but nothing in particular but he probably answered some of my questions tho.
BTW, I think my friend will just have to drag and drop those titles he has already put on his computer--if that is possible. He does have a ton of CDs and when we go over he will stick 4-5 into his player while we play cards; etc. He just wants to have a listing in ABC order so that he will always know what he has and it will help him when he chooses to buy more. Doubt that he has MS Word on his PC. I don't recall ever seeing it on his PC.
Oh yeah, I will sometimes post the same question about a problem on more than one BB and sometimes in a different forum on the same BB. I do this in hopes that someone will help me.

Yes I remember a Rick but like you the memory is not all that good remembering everyone there at UAMB. He can go look up the old gang now at Tweeks. You know I was just think, don't you have on your Aptiva MS Works? How about using the spreed sheet. You could move thing around by draging them in it. Maybe even have it list them on there own starting with the A's too. I can't look right now because the Aptiva PC is not on.
So check the MS Works and try the spreed sheet or one of the other data programs there. | | Distinguished Member with 8,052 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: American living in Dublin, Ireland Experience: Advanced | | | | | Distinguished Member with 2,143 posts. | | Join Date: Nov 2001 Location: Florida USA | | hewee:
Nope, I don't have MS Works on my PC. I doubt that he has either!!
I think I am just gonna let him run with this problem and do what he has to do to get his listing of his CDs the way he wants 'em. I do have an MS Office CD that might do what he wants done. If you, or anyone else knows if this is possible, I could load the CD and have him email me his list and I could then do the work for him and emial it back. This would at least give him a "master list" of his CDs and he can build onto that list from there.
Just a thought.
PS Now I am going to read the info in Randy G's links.

Copy and paste the info from the existing list into Excel, and then you can Sort it Alphabetically at the click of one button.
The last 2 links I gave you above seem like they might do what you want, but it might involve typing it all in.
The first link is a list of 80 freeware downloads that might also do it.
Best of Luck!

Thanks for those links and either of them COULD possibly do the job for my friend. He knows less about computers than I!! I may have him email me his list and I can try to do it for him also. | | Distinguished Member with 8,052 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: American living in Dublin, Ireland Experience: Advanced | | Well, if it's a once off thing he wants, then you get him to email it to me, and I'll do it. I'm quite serious that it takes a few seconds to do it, and I already have Excel 2000 running. He can send me his list, in just about any format, and I will send him one back, alphabetised.
If you go into my Profile, you will be able to email me from there, or send me a PM, and I'll sends you my email address.
