Hey Cad, seeing as no one else has replied to you, I may not be the best person in the world for this, but here goes.

It depends on what u whan from your ISP, I use Freeserve Anytime cause the connections are reliable but you get cut off after 2 hrs. If you just want to connect without paying a monthly subscribtion I recommend Madasafish or again Freeserve, I have used both in the past and have had no problem.

Hope this kinda, helps!

I use AOL. They force you to have their software running (don't have to use it though) My last ISP was BT so I'm really happy with AOL.

They don't cut you off every 2 hours like BT. The transfer rate of BT drops after an hour and you get cut off on the second hour but it stays up for longer with AOL.

AOL would be my recommendation. Sometimes it takes a while to connect but once you're online, it's all good.

Me experience
I started with AOL, moved on to CompuServe, then Juno when they started offering more than just e-mail, then Earthlink, then AT&T, finaly ending with a cable connection. AOL was good, I did not enjoy their software, being cut off after idle time, or the advertisements from e-mail or instant messages. I'll just skip CompuServe and so should you. Juno was nice because it is free, but it is slow and the ad will drive you bonkers. Earthlink was very nice reliable and fast, however it's $20 a month for just internet access(they do give out nice gifts though). At of all dial-ups AT&T was my favorite. It was fast reliable, no log offs, unlimited access and discounted because they are my telephone providor. If you have the money, go for high speed, but I think that goes without saying.

Well at first i was on a 14.4 modem w/ 100 free AOL hours, it was alright, then i went up to using netzero, juno and other free isp's until about 3 years ago i switched to erols. It's very good and reliable. Just just offered cable in my area and im switching to it.
If u need to just go on the net get some free ISP. If ur gonna do a little more get something like AT&t or erols, etc. and if u can afford it go high speed.

If you can afford £25 per month then I can reccommend Ntl Broadband - I find it great!
