How To Install Memory In Your PC
GUIDE TO INSTALLING MEMORY FOR YOUR PC

Before you do anything:

Review and familiarize yourself with the upgrading section of your computer owner's manual.

Turn off the computer.

CAUTION: Memory modules and most electronic components in the computer are electrostatic-sensitive. Use caution and handle with care while installing the memory module. To protect your product from damage, remove any electrostatic charge from your body prior to installation by simply touching any unpainted, grounded metal surface. Do not remove the memory module from its anti-static package until installation.

1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove the computer's outer casing.

2. Locate the expansion slots (or sockets) on the motherboard and remove any dust and debris collected in the slots.

Precautions:

WARNING: Installation of the memory module(s) requires handling electrical equipment. As with all electrical equipment, improper handling of your computer and/or improper installation of memory modules can result in serious injury or death. To avoid electrical shock, follow all instructions for preparation and installation set forth below and in your computer owner's manual. Never attempt to install the memory module(s) while the computer's power is ON.

Operating an improperly installed memory module can damage both the memory module and the motherboard.

Refer to your computer owner's manual for any additional precautions or instructions for upgrading.

While handling the memory module, exercise care in removing any static charge from your body.

When storing the memory module, store it in its original anti-static package in a dry, room temperature environment.

Begin Easy Installation:

DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) for Desktop

1. Again, make sure your computer is unplugged.

2. Locate the expansion slot and push the ejector lever, located at both ends of the slot, downwards. NOTE: There are a number of expansion slots adjacent to each other in parallel on the motherboard. Refer to your computer owner's manual to locate the correct expansion slot.

3. Handling the module by the edges, insert the memory module into the expansion slot, press firmly until it module snaps in place.

Note: Modules are keyed with notches for proper alignment.

4. Once the module is properly seated into the slot, place the ejector lever into the upright position to securely fasten the module in the slot.

5. With the power still OFF, replace the computer's outer casing.

6. Turn the power ON and verify that the computer recognizes the new memory by following the instructions in your computer owner's manual.

* If you have any problems after installation such as memory errors or Windows does not recognize your new memory size, make sure to double check the modules to be sure they are seated firmly in place.
