Advice on a New PC
Didn't know where to post this question......I'm looking to purchase a new pc in 2009 looking just for the tower don't need keyboard, speakers, monitor ....Was looking for some opinions on what to look for and any recommendations. Not a big gamer on the PC at all but i do a ton of Multi-Tasking when doing work...definitely would like something that is not integrated so if i need to upgrade sound cards or video cards in the future i can do so...would love to keep XP Pro and to stay away from Vista.......Leaning towards AMD just 'cause of friends comments but that could be changed......ANY help or advice or even experiences would be extremely grateful....I have read alot of reviews but being in a forum like this with people with experience is more to my liking....Thank you in advance for any help at all

I would go a quad core with 64 bit vista if money permits.
You can buy systems without an os or bare bones kits.
What is your budget for the new tower,
I myself use to favor amd but have no problems with using an intel any more.

I got the DELL Vostro 410 in July that I love.

It is a DELL Small & Medium Business PC and you can get them without all the junk and get XP Pro.

Mine came with XP Pro installed but I have XP Pro and Vista on CD also.

I was looking to spend around 500-600 for a new pc......Was going to take out my secondary internal hard-drive out as well.....Don't really need to have a OS installed as i have XP Pro on disc so that's really not a deal breaker so to speak

i just had to throw it in there looks like a hot rig.
It looks like ddr3 is starting to catch on faster if you could hold out a couple months would be affordable to get a tower with ddr3.
ddr3 with quad cores would make for a very nice tower i did see one for 1300 on that site.
with some googleing up who knows might be able to build one for 800 or so.
My moto is spend a little extra on your hardware now because you are going to be stuck with it for the next 4 years
Quad cores ddr3 ram with vista 64 would be a very sweet rig.
Thats what my next purchase will be as soon as the timing is right.

I went to Fry's and bought what was needed and built my own, with the new OS, SATA hd, MB, case and memory (3.0 duo core processor) was under $700. SO if you have the know how I would go that way.
