Solved: find my thread
Hi All, I know this has been asked a million times but I can't work it.

In IE how can I go straight to my thread, in Firefox it seems they have a better system and I dont have to search through pages and pages to find my thread.

I don't understand the question. I don't see any difference in the forum behavior between IE and FF.

Sorry John, my message is vague.

If I use IE and open TSGF I can't pin point my thread without going down the pages,

In Firefox I can scrol down the page looking in the right hand colum and find my name
easy.

Is that explaining it better,,,,,IE and Firefox have two different page settings for TSGF.

That would seem to be a local issue. The first attached graphic is a shot of FireFox here, the second is IE7. They look pretty similar to me.

Ignore the visible ad, they're only seen by moderators after they're deleted.

G/Day John.
Wondering if I open a thread in Firefox and later on if I'm in IE and go to TSGF, to check reply I cannot find my thread, is this a local issue , a thread started in FF does not get picked up in IE. Local issue?.

I have a thread in HJT. in Firefox yet I can't see it in IE.

my curiousity is running wild.

Did you refresh the page when you changed browsers?

- info -
1. the BEST way is to start on the 'home' page HERE:
http://www.techguy.org/
[does save a few question later],
.
2. THEN, on the left, click 'welcome guide'
http://www.techguy.org/welcome.html
[do some READING, not just 'skimming'],
.
3. THEN, on the left, click 'rules'
http://www.techguy.org/rules.html
[FEWER 'M I S T A K E S' later']
.
4. THEN, on the left, click 'welcome guide'
and go BACK to the 'welcome guide' and register
http://www.techguy.org/welcome.html
.
5. then at the top, click 'forums'
http://forums.techguy.org/
you will notice there is a short descriptive phrase,
under each sub-forum heading suggesting WHAT to post there,
[a 'proper' post saves the moderators a lot of 'wasted-time' moving your post later],
.
6. try 'lurking' for awhile,
[which means READ a bit of HOW and WHAT others are posting],
.
7. if you look at the top right , you will notice 'SEARCH'
try it, do you think your problem is totally unique?,
nahhh, no such luck,
somebody has already had it!!!
.
now on to the question you asked,
.
HOW TO FIND YOUR THREAD / POST
[so you AREN'T multi-posting]
.
see attached pics:
you can do #1
.
OR
you can do #2 and follow the steps
.
in step 4b, IF your menu is 'collapsed' - click the little arrow
.
and DON'T forget step #4H, or it's all for naught,
.
IF you think you've 'messed-up' - just do #5
and remake youre preferences again,
[actually the 'forum defaults' suit most people],
.
feel free to follow OR ignore whatever of the above,

Daniel
Thank you for your reply , in this case I seem to have issues with IE and local
issues I think between Firefox and IE, but it will be sorted.

Thanks for your time
cheers
