Close programs fast!
I think I originally found this little program in this section, but I know it was a long, long time ago. It's small, free, and very useful. If you have a bunch of windows open, it will close them all at pretty much the same time. Very fast and helpful if someone comes around unexpectedly while you're ....well, whatever! It's called "Close All." I use it all the time and you can find it here.

Later,
AK

PS. seems to work on win98-XP, used it on all of them.

Whether you use a program or do it manually, always close all open programs(except Explorer and Systray) BEFORE you do the following:

Run Scandisk.

Run Disk Defragmenter.

Install new software(whether it be from a CD or from the Internet)

Uninstall software.

Run the Internet Explorer "repair" function.

(Note: If you need to keep a 56K dial-up connection active during the downloading and install process, don't close Rnaap)

You can also press the shift key while clicking on the close box of the topmost window. This will close all windows that went before it. However, it will not close everything that is open, if they are not related in their path.
