I own an inspiron 9300 and need to know how to activate the "Fn" keys.

Hold the Function key on the lower row of keys and press one of the labeled function keys on the top row for the desired function.

Function keys can be used by the computer during the boot sequence to enable options during boot. Once the computer has booted, other programs can use these keys for their own purposes.

You can program a shortcut to use a function key. From the desktop, right-click on a shortcut, open properties, click on shortcut field, then hit one of your function keys. Once this edit is saved, the function key will work as a shortcut.

There are also third party programs, such as WinKey, that will allow you program your function keys.
