here how you can make great use of the permanent links folder within the favorites folder - turn it into a mini-start menu!

from what i can tell, this is the ONLY folder wich allows cascading menus for program shortcuts and this is how to do it. go to start menu>favorites> and right-click 'Links' and select explore. delete all the junk in that folder and create a new folder called 'DIR'. copy all your favorite program shortcuts to the 'LAUNCH' folder from the various parts of the start menu. now you can make new folders within this 'DIR' folder to better organize your links as you see fit. now you can go to your internet explorer toolbar and show the 'Links' folder. you will then see this DIR folder you made and when you click it it will be a button that expands into a menu with all your shortcuts! you can also do this within Windows Explorer and the Desktop Toolbars as well! I changed the icon for my DIR folder to a happy face. see below.

what this looks like in my internet explorer:

[edit] "copy all your favorite program shortcuts to the 'LAUNCH' folder from the various parts of the start menu."

should say: copy all your favorite program shortcuts to the 'DIR' folder from the various parts of the start menu.
