Thumbs up Free Directory Assistance
Id like to share a cool site/tool

Free directory assistance (411) that you can use on your cell or land line.
The best part is, it connects you to the business you want so its great for hands free driving. (It works in Canada not sure about US but Im sure it does)

http://www.google.ca/goog411/

Enjoy.

But it's not real directory service, it's just for businesses. Doubtless, it's simply another method for Google to get advertising dollars. I can assure you that any business they refer you to has paid to be listed.

How about a free one that offers full service instead of just businesses they have listed?

We use 800.373.3411 It is free to use, but you do have to listen to an advertisement before you can ask for the number you want.
Been using this as needed for 3-4 years now.

Yep, it's been programmed into all our cell phones for years as well. I seldom need directory service, and I'm sure not going to pay a kings ransom when I do.
