Transferring MP3s to Newer computer
I just got a newer computer with CD-Burning capability; anyway, here's my question:

I have several mp3 files on my old computer's hard drive. How do I transfer them over to the newer computer? A standard floppy doesn't have enough room on it. My older computer doesn't have a cd burner--just a standard floppy drive and cd-rom drive.

Any suggestions or tips? Do they make higher density floppies?
Would Microsoft backup work--it would take a lot of floppies though.

I would like to be able to download mp3s to the old machine and periodically transfer them over to the non-internet connected newer computer that's located in another room.

My older puter= Win95
Newer puter=Win98

Cool Easiest way!
Dale,
The easiest way to do it would be hard disk to hard disk copy if and only if you know how to do that...

If you are not acquainted with it then it might not be so easy. I dont think the MS Backup program would be much useful though...

Transferring files such as mp3s... is pretty difficult using a floppy as there wouldnt be much space to do so. If you have may be an external zip drive... you can try with that.

If you need help regarding how to tranfer the files using harddisks we'll try to help you out so that your work can be completed...

Hope this helps...

Easiest way without buying or installing anything new :

Just take the hard drive in your win95 machine and plug it into your win98 machine. Copy the files over and then put it back

If you go the external Zip route, be sure the 95 machine has usb support, as thats how they hook...Rhett

Arrow zip plus drive
hey dale, i had the same situation last year when i went from win95 to win me w/cd burner. my solution was to buy a zip plus drive. the zip plus, as opposed to the regular zip drive, can connect to your old computer via the printer (parallel) port, then, using the same cable, connect to your new computer via the scsi or printer (parallel) port. i had to purchase one on ebay for @ $35 bucks w/disks.

you can also try hooking up the two computers directly to each other and use the dcc (direct cable connection?) method. go into your new computer's help index and do a search for direct cable connection or dcc.

hope this helps.

I would reccommend the Zip Plus because you will probably have plenty of future use for it.
