Question ok .. im confused ...
I have been browsing the various forums(yes I know ....but the housework can wait ... the hubby can too... the kids ? hmmm well they make a bit more noise but they are getting used to it ) and I was wondering what on earth is tweaking ? I have seen it written quite abit...excuse my ignorance but I am fairly new to these things!!

Tweaking : Its basically manipulating the working or functioning of your OS(Windows 98 or Windows ME...). You change the default settings and customize them to your requirements thereby enhancing the performance of the computer. There are many tools to tweak the computer. MS has one of its good tweaking programs called TweakUI(I guess UI stands for User Interface). Take a look at the sites for which I've posted the links below -

http://www.tweak3d.net/tweak/

http://www.tweak3d.net/tweak/win98/

http://www.windows-help.net/ttw/

Any more info required plz get back.

Hello Paperlace,

Where are you down-under? A girl I was at tech. college with in the 1960's took "assisted passage" for £10 (I think) at the time,
travelled by herself and ended up in Brisbane, in a hostel.
Met her future husband at a birthday party and went on to raise a family there (Not at the birthday party!!) One daughter lives way up in the NW. She loves it in Brisbane.
Wouldn't come back to the cold old UK. I hear from her occasionally, though now her husband has retired she doesn't have so much time to spend at the computer - he needs attention all the time! Sopund like a typical Australian man!

Another member of the same College class set out to travel in a VW around the world and arrived in Perth, only to stay there.

Nice to know you,

Bye,

T2

The term "tweaking" simply means adjusting - generally to get better performance. You could even "tweak" your car engine to get more horsepower. The term has been taken by the computer-user community to sort of replace the term "tuning". Tweaking and tuning mean essentially the same thing. Whenever you hear someone refer to things as "tweaks" they are generally referring to adjustments/modifications you can make on some part of your computer (or its software) to make it do something specific that you would like better than what it is doing now. There are some software packages/programs which have the word "tweak" in the title - these are generally packages which help you make adjustments to hardware or software.

Hello PL

I know what you mean - gone are the days...!!! Nice to hear from you. Canberra looks a great place to be. I watch as much as I can about Aussieland on TV and visit web sites. Seems such a good place to live. Have always wanted to visit Will never have the money for the fare, though, so can only dream.

I have a fear of flying and heights, so would have to travel on a slow boat to Chi.. (now that's a really old song!). Kay in Brisbane has a time-share on Moreton Island and sent me pikkies of the gorgeous beaches and lovely blue seas, and of the Dolphin Sanctuary. She doesn't go there often, but takes her sister when she comes over from the UK or other visitors. She says their winter is only two or three weeks long, but she did have all her grass on the lawn killed by frost!

Your trip through Europe sounds good. I've only been as far as Switzerland (with the Sea Rangers when I was a Girl Guide).
We slept on straw paliasses in a wooden Chalet. Visited Paris on the way and stayed in a French School (out-of-term time). All ways remember the feeling of being in Marie Antoinettes Palace;
could almost hear and see hordes storming it in the Revolution. It was quite eerie. Such an atomosphere!

Did you get to see Stonehenge. We might be an old country
with some funny old ways, but we have a lot of ancient remains
(including me, the way I feel sometimes) to make up for it.

Best wishes - enjoy TGS.

Hello PL

Thought you'd like to see this picture of me and Kay (who emigrated to Brisbane). Note the cool dresses - this was in the '60's. We were waiting outside a church hall to take a typing lesson as our Tech College didn't have enough classrooms at the time. I'm the second from the right. Good for a laugh!!!

I've will load it in my profile (instead of the original one) so go there to find it. Give me a while to sort it out.

Best wishes,

T2
