Befuddled
Hi people!

I am challenging all of you who "think" your'e a serious tweaker! There is something that I'm really obsessed about: I hate with a passion the "click here to begin" tool tip that pops ups at the start button. There is absolutely no reason why I should be annoyed byt his but I am and I want it GONE!

First person that offers a sucessful solution gets a case of their favourite liquid in the Tavern!

~Jim

P.S. I have TweakUI & X-teq and neither of them work.

My Dear Jim,
Check this link, download the program ResHack and then change Windows anyway you like... I mean it!

http://www.programmersheaven.com/zon...t287/16956.htm

Run the program and then, open the Explorer.exe in the Windows folder. Now you'll get few menus and submenus. Now click on the String Table->34->1033. Change the 533 element there! Change it to whatever you want or just remove that line from there!

After that, save the file as Exp.exe in the Windows folder. Restart the computer in MS DOS Mode and then rename the file to Explorer.exe and thats it! It'll be changed

But, plz copy the current Explorer.exe to another location may be D drive or a safer place.

If you need any further info just post back and I'll be more than glad to help out

BTW, I dont drink, so no drinks for me at the Tavern

Dont worry pv- no drinks for you!

I tried it again and that darn string regenerated itself again! Anyone else have any ideas? Or should I just suck it up and get a life?

~Jim

P.S. LOL! Guess what pv? I get to drink it all myself!
We did ok but what i finally did is after deleting the text string, I clicked "Compile Script". That completely deleted the 533 line # and remaing "". After I booted back to Windows. That rotten "click here to begin" is dead!

Jim,

I might not drink but you shouldnt take the entire credit for this...

Oh well! I forgot telling you about the Compile Script and glad that you figured it out...

Np, have as many drinks you want...

Have a great day!

Sorry if it sounded like that! You did point me to the software and guided me through its use. The credit is almost entirely yours, but unfortunately to omit a crucial step is a critical error. I do agree that my only contribution was a "Random" click of the mouse!

In all fairness, I will share all drinkw with the lovely TSG ladies in the Tavern and I will propose a toast to your friendliness and valuable contribution to TSG!!

Take care;
~Jim
