I have made new threads on my own for the coffee shop and fun games and posted links to the new thread and in the new thread to the last post of the older thread myself and then ask to have the other thread closed.
I try do do this when the thread gets over a 1000 post.

I don't think this works anymore.Posts have gone past 2000 and 5000 some are 6000 no close

Yep...Techbot has been gone for some time now! We now have threads being closed usually by the thread starter at 5000 posts!

Maybe slightly off-topic, but I thought I'd throw this post in here FYI.

Just a note to point out that as of this morning (30 August 2006), the total number of posts submitted to the original FunGame! (currently split into 7 threads) is about 80,815. At the current rate of posting to this game (about 22 posts per day), the total of number of FunGame! posts will reach 100,000 in about 872 days (that's on 18 January 2009).

By way of comparison, here are the estimated number of days (date) it will take the current five high-posters to reach 100,000 posts based on their overall posting rate since joining TSG:

AcaCandy: 576 days (28 March 2008)
angelize56: 782 days (20 October 2008)
Cheeseball81: 930 days (17 March 2009)
Flrman1: 1836 days (9 September 2011)
Hewee: 2146 days (15 July 2012)

How many of these members will get to 100,000 posts before FunGame! gets there? Hard to predict. With a little effort (read: 160 posts per day or one post every 9 minutes), FunGame! could get to 100,000 posts by the end of 2006. That rate is just slightly higher than the rate of posting that occurred during the first 50,000 posts to FunGame! It's doable.
