Post hp recovery cd problem
i am trying to recover my system with recovery cd's, i have a hp pavillion desktop and they sent me 8 recovery cd's. problem is that these cd's partition the hard drive, and copy the files correctly but stops extraction of files after completing 25%. since the files are not completely extracted, windows xp does not start. i have tried calling and chatting with hp support but hese guys don't know anyhting beyond the normal recovery procedure.
I also loaded windows xp professional and it loads and it will work fine, but I do not have its product id so I can't use it and I don't want to use when the computer came loaded with xp home operating system. Also I want full system recovery (the original came with windows xp home).
Is there a way to recover operating system from the recovery disks because then I can download other device files from their support center?
Bob
