Removing Red Hat 9 and all partitions therein
I installed redhat 9 on my 60 gb hard drive by itself (on accident...i wanted to partition it to be 20 gb for linux and 40 gb for storage on windows), so I need to reformat my harddrive, however most of the programs i try to use say "unkown file format". This is a duel boot system alongside windows ME. could i get a little help please?

Fdisk should let you delete the partitions. I went form Red Hat 6 to Windows NT once on a drive. I just used fdisk to blow away the Linux partitions and master boot record.

hmmm.......I'll try that again, but i do remember specifically that fdisk was the one that gave me the error message.

thanks a lot

EDIT: wow. that didnt work. well, it did, but it didnt. anyway. Now, when I boot up, I see the compaq logo (its always been there), and then some really fast text come accross the screen. I can see one of the words. it is "grub". I think something is looking for grub, which doesnt exist any more. Do you know where I can change that?

EDIT #2: alright. got it working! fdisk /mbr works wonders.
