redhat 9 computer locks up
When i install redhat 9 from the cd as soon as it boots it goes to the check media section and then that is it the computer hangs. I took the cds to my friends house and installed it no problem. I have installed redhat a week ago with downloaded isos and installed no problems. But for some reason these cds wont work on this computer but they will at my friends.

Maybe your cd drive is the culprit.
I have had to change cd drives to get some OSs to install.

Smile Redhat 9
Hi,

I cant get Redhat to run on my Sharp laptop, but SuSe runs fine. Maybe you have some unsupported hardware. Have you tried checking your hardware with the lists on the Redhat website?

Redhat runs fine on my old Toshiba laptop.

Regards

Khayman.

I read in a HP forum that for their pavillion laptops you have to specify some kernel parameters - namely:

pcmcia=no
idebus=66
usb=no

I thought to plug in a ps2keyboard to sse if that would help - but as yet I haven't had any luck either! If anyone does reslove this then I would love to know as I still haven't successfully installed RH9 on my laptop
