MP3 players for Red Hat 9?
I'm a newbie and would like to know how to get a mp3 or dvd player for my newly installed Red Hat 9

I have read hacks where you fix the problem with the current player that comes with RH9 but can I go around this by installing a player that actually works?

Any advices?

This rpm will do the trick to fix xmms in red hat. It truly is the best for listening to music and such.

As for dvd's I'd suggest xine or MPlayer .

Xine is more usefull overall, it has plugins for mozilla so u can watch (although admitedly not very well) streaming video and audio and things like that. But personally I found MPlayer better for watching movies and such. MPlayer has a very "PowerDVD" look to it. XMMS is a lot like WinAmp 2.

If you wanna go non-open source you could always resort to realplayer :P

HTH,

Tristan

Thanks a lot! I'm going to check out xine. The installation looks challenging!
