Smile Mozilla a LOT slower than IE6 (RESOLVED)
Red Hat 8 and XP Pro on the same system.

When I use RH8 and Mozilla, it takes a lot longer for pages to load, especially when loading more than one page at the same time.

XP and IE6 has faster page loading.

Is there something that can be adjusted in Mozilla?

I am on dial up.

Have you tried Konqueror as a comparison test?Or tried any other browser?
You might want to check kppp to see if you have set the correct connection speed.

Try MozillaFirebird, from the www.mozilla.org website. Much faster. Check the help for speeding it up even furtehr - runs circles around IE

Don't know where that is ....

I tried downloading Linux version of Acrobat from Adobe.com using RH8.
The speed was .4KB/sec which would take 5 hours.

Switched to XP and tried the same file; its speed was 2.15KB/sec.
Which would take 1HR 15Min. I can live with that.

I would like to try Firebird.
I have never installed any additional programs in RH8.
Once I download the file what do I do with it?
Will it install automatically when I click on it?
I guess I'll start Googling!
